Orbit (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) is a mobile app for couples and close friends in long-distance relationships. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices. By using Orbit, you agree to this policy.
Orbit is operated by Roni Kriger. For privacy questions or requests, contact: krigerroni@gmail.com.
When you enable location sharing, Orbit uses your device’s location only while you are using the app to reverse-geocode your approximate position into a city name (for example, “San Francisco, USA”). That city-level information may be stored in your profile and shown to people you are linked with on the globe, so they can see where you are in general terms. Linked partners do not receive your raw latitude/longitude.
To convert coordinates into city names and to search for places when you pick a city, the app uses
Apple’s on-device geocoding services (Core Location’s CLGeocoder and MapKit local search).
Those requests are handled by Apple according to Apple’s privacy policy; Orbit does not send your location to a separate
third-party geocoding vendor for this purpose.
City-level location data stored in your Orbit profile is shared with linked partners only when you have opted in. We do not sell location or geocoding data to third parties.
Account and app data are stored on secure cloud infrastructure operated by Supabase (regions depend on your project configuration). Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS).
Content you add to a shared orbit (trail entries, presence, city-level location when sharing is on, etc.) is visible to users you are connected with, according to the app’s design and access rules. We do not make your private content public.
We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete your account in the app under Settings → Delete account, which removes your account and associated cloud data, subject to our backend processing and legal obligations.
Orbit is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data. Contact us at krigerroni@gmail.com and we will respond within a reasonable time.
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version at this URL and update the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
